Physical Education

INTENT - St Barnabas and St Helena’s Federation believes that Physical Education (PE), experienced in a safe and supportive environment will inspire our pupils to lead an active and healthy lifestyle. We intend to deliver high-quality teaching and embrace opportunities that allow all children to succeed in physical education. We also want to encourage our children to work in unity, understanding fairness and coping with setbacks thus developing their resilience and embedding life-long values. Our curriculum aims to take children on a journey that leads to a good level of skills and knowledge.

IMPLEMENTATIONWe use Primary Steps as our comprehensive scheme of work which ensures clear development and progression of knowledge and skills. As children move up through key stage two, they will develop their technique as well as improving their physical fitness. The curriculum is inclusive and allows all children to flourish with confidence and allows opportunities for children to enhance their skills, which helps them to understand more and remember more therefore fully unlocking potential when learning together.

IMPACT - St Barnabas and St Helena's Federation were awared with the Gold Sports Award for the 2024-2025 academic year, demonstrating our commitment to promoting physical education for all children.
