Whilst the children have been enjoying the first two weeks of the school holidays, our Caretaker, Mrs Shelley Somerscales, has been giving some of the rooms a bit of a facelift, assisted by Mr Ward and Mrs Storey.
Tired, scuffed walls and dull chipped wood work, have been given a fresh coat of paint in the Key Stage 1 and 2 classrooms, whilst the entrance hall and Juniors cloakroom area have been transformed into bright and airy looking spaces with several coats of white and magnolia emulsion on the walls, and freshly applied white gloss to the woodwork.
It has been a bit of a challenge, due to the extremely hot and humid weather and, as is often the case with these kind of jobs, it was the preparation work which took the most time, the removal of Blu-tac stains being a particularly time-sapping activity. However, the end results definitely made the effort worthwhile and we hope that the refreshed, brighter rooms will help create a nicer study and working environment for children and staff.
It is hoped that the hall, Early Years unit and stairwell can be given a fresh coat of paint during the next few months, completing this much needed internal facelift, so watch this space …. we may need your help!
